Welcome to the new digital home of the Plantersville Cultural Complex (PCC). This site is more than just a platform—it’s a declaration of purpose, a gathering space for visionaries, and a doorway into a future rooted in the power of place, memory, and community.

For generations, the Gullah Geechee people of Plantersville have preserved a rich heritage through storytelling, agriculture, craftsmanship, faith, and family. These cultural traditions—passed down with care and resilience—are not just history. They are a living legacy. And with PCC, we’re building a place that will honor that legacy while forging new opportunities for education, economic empowerment, and cultural tourism.

PCC is not just a project. It is a movement.

We are reclaiming space, shaping narratives, and inviting the world to engage with our authentic story. From interpretive exhibits and community gardens to wetland boardwalks, artist residencies, and environmental education, PCC will be a hub where the past informs the future—and where everyone has a role to play.

Already, we are seeing signs of transformation: students dreaming bigger, partnerships growing stronger, and a groundswell of support from neighbors, scholars, and funders who believe, as we do, that rural places like Plantersville are not forgotten—they are essential.

As Executive Director, I am deeply honored to serve this vision. Every brick laid, every path cleared, every story shared through this Complex is part of a broader promise: that the cultural wealth of our community will not only be preserved, but amplified.

We hope this website becomes a tool for transparency, connection, and inspiration. Please explore, share, and consider how you might contribute to our journey—whether through a visit, a donation, or simply spreading the word.

Together, we are building more than a complex.
We are building legacy.

With gratitude,
Ray C. Funnye
Executive Director
